Koster, Nevers Honored as All-American Scholars

Graduate students recognized by AHCA
MINNEAPOLIS - Mike Koster and Mason Nevers from the University of Minnesota men's hockey program were recognized by the American Hockey Coaches Association as Krampade All-American Scholars in their final season with the Maroon and Gold.

Koster served as a team captain for a second-straight season and his 20 points, four goals and 16 assists, ranked second among Golden Gophers' defensemen. He scored the biggest goal of his career on the final day of the regular season at Penn State for the eventual game winner that clinched the Big Ten Conference Championship. Minnesota went 12-1-3 in games when he added his name to the scoresheet as he reached the 20-point mark for the second time in his tenure. Koster also blocked a total of 53 shots for the year, the second most on the team. A native of Chaska, Minn., he completed a Master of Education degree in Sport Management this spring with a 3.86 GPA.

After being an alternate captain a year ago, Nevers stepped into a captain's role in 2024-25 and put up nine points on six goals and three assists. The Edina, Minn., product net a game-winning goal on the road at Ohio State in January after returning from a six-week injury before going on to post a season-long, three-game point streak from Feb. 28 to Mar. 7. He was named the Gophers' recipient of the Elwin "Doc" Romnes Leadership & Sportsmanship Award for the second time in his career, while landing on the Academic All-Big Ten Team for the fourth time. Nevers finished his Master of Education degree in Sport Management following the spring semester and held a 3.84 GPA.

To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA in each semester of the 2024-25 academic year, while playing in 40 percent of his team's contests.
