Four Former Gophers Hoist 2025 Walter Cup

ST. PAUL - Four alumnae of the University of Minnesota women's hockey program were crowned PWHL champions on Monday night, as the Minnesota Frost clinched back-to-back Walter Cup victories after defeating the Ottawa Charge 2-1 in a game-four overtime thriller.
Former Gophers Taylor Heise, Kelly Pannek, Lee Stecklein, and Grace Zumwinkle all took home their second PWHL title in two years.
Stecklein led the league with eight points during the 2025 playoff run (4g-4a), followed by Heise with seven (1g-6a). Pannek notched five points (2g-3a) and Zumwinkle tallied three assists en route to a Frost victory in the Finals.
Six total players with program ties appeared in the 2025 PWHL Playoffs across three different teams. Abigail Boreen (Montreal) and Lucy Morgan (Ottawa) and the four members of the Frost made up the group of former Gophers.
