MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota men's swimming and diving program clinched its first medal of the 2025 Big Ten Championships on Thursday evening, as well as three total podium finishes and several NCAA 'B' cuts.

The Maroon & Gold found particular success in the 500 free finals, with two Gopher student-athletes securing a spot on the podium, and all four competing in the event hitting 'B' cuts. Senior Bar Soloveychik reached the first medal finish for the Gopher men of the week, taking third place in the event with a time of 4:12.83. Fifth-year Joey Tepper took seventh place in the same event with a time of 4:16.30.

Freshmen Daniel Eichel and Luke Brennan took 17th and 20th place, respectively, in the 500 free. Eichel finished with a personal-best time of 4:17.28 and Brennan finished with a time of 4:19.73.

The 200 free relay squad notched its own place on the podium, finishing seventh with a total time of 1:17.59. Jacob Johnson led off with a personal-best 19.62 50-yard split. Kaiser Neverman took over for the next split, finishing with a time of 19.15 before Casey Stowe followed with a 19.30. Davide Harabagiu anchored the relay with a time of 19.52.

In the 200 IM, fifth-year Kaiser Neverman's time of 1:43.94 placed him 12th. Sophomore Ryan Slonac finished 20th with a time of 1:45.20, and freshman Joe Polyak placed 21st with his 1:45.43 finish. All three Gophers hit the 'B' cut in the 200 IM.

In the 1-meter diving well, YuTong Wang finished tenth with a score of 372.70 and Drew Bennett placed at 12th with a 331.10.

With 260 points, Minnesota remains in seventh place overall heading into the third day of competition. Indiana leads with 526 points, followed by Michigan with 419.5, then Ohio State with 413.

Friday's schedule includes preliminaries and finals for the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 400 medley relay and 3 meter dive.
