MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota graduate forward Jamie Nelson has been named the WCHA Forward of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Nelson posted four points (1g, 3a) in the Gophers' weekend sweep of St. Thomas to close out the 2025 portion of the schedule.
The honor marks Nelson's first WCHA weekly award as a Gopher and the second of her collegiate career. She recorded the primary assist on Minnesota's final goal in Friday's 5-3 victory at the newly opened Lee & Penny Anderson Arena in St. Paul, Minn.
Nelson continued her strong play Saturday at Ridder Arena, skating to a goal and two assists. She provided the primary assist on the game's opening goal, added the secondary assist on Minnesota's third tally, and closed the scoring with the Gophers' final goal of the afternoon.
Minnesota wrapped up the first half of the season with a 14-4-0 overall record (10-4-0 WCHA) and will resume play Jan. 2–3 at Sacred Heart (5-12-1). The Gophers travel to Fairfield, Conn., for the two-game series with puck drops set for 4:00 p.m. CT on Friday and 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday.
