Freshman was OT hero at Denver

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Thanks to his overtime heroics Saturday night at Denver, Minnesota men's hockey freshman Javon Moore was selected as the Big Ten Conference Second Star of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday.

Moore continued his breakout stretch for the Golden Gophers by delivering the overtime game-winner that sealed an upset of the fourth-ranked Pioneers in Saturday's U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game at Ball Arena. The freshman capped a two-point performance after helping Minnesota strike first with an assist less than two minutes into the contest.

His decisive goal came with just 35 seconds left in overtime and marked the second multi-point outing of his young career. The Carver, Minn., native now has seven points over his last six games, including his first game winner in the Maroon and Gold.

Moore is the second Minnesota representative to land weekly accolades in 2025-26 after goaltender Luca Di Pasquo also picked up second star honors on Nov. 11. Last season, the Gophers earned 12 B1G Star of the Week honors, the second-most in the conference, and came from all three position groups: forward, defense, and goaltender.
