'U' Ranked 15th in WCGA Preseason Poll

Minnesota made the NCAA Regional Finals again last season

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The University of Minnesota Women's Gymnastics team was picked as the No. 15 team in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Preseason Rankings, the organization announced today. Minnesota finished 15th in the final rankings last season after posting a 25-7 (8-1 B1G) regular season and finishing third at the Big Ten Championships.

Minnesota finished second in the Big Ten regular season standings and head coach Jenny Hansen was named North Central Region Coach of the Year after another outstanding season in charge. The team made the NCAA Regional Finals for the fourth time in the last five seasons (one of just two Big Ten teams to do so) and had an individual reach nationals for the second consecutive year.

The University of Oklahoma is the top women's gymnastics team heading into the 2026 season, as voted on by the members of the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association. Other Big Ten teams ranked in the top-15 include No. 4 UCLA, No. 6 Michigan State and No. 14 Michigan. 

Ohio State (21), Iowa (22), Penn State (26), Nebraska (27), Maryland (28), Illinois (31), Washington (34) and Rutgers (36) all made the top 36.

The Gophers open their 2026 season on Friday, Jan. 2 at No. 5 Utah.
