No. 22 'U' Taken Down in Three by Top-Ranked Huskers

11/8/2025 4:38:00 PM | Volleyball

Minnesota hit .268 for the night, led by Hanson with 13 kills

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 22 Minnesota volleyball team fell in straight sets to the No. 1 Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday afternoon at Maturi Pavilion. The set scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-20.

"I told the group to own the stuff we did well," said head coach Keegan Cook. "We had some big offensive performances and had some big moments off growth. Defensively, we had some things that didn't go so well, we got beat in a couple ways consistently. Overall, we're leaving here motivated."

Julia Hanson paced the Gophers with 13 kills and seven digs while Carly Gilk went for 10 kills on .533. Stella Swenson paced the offense with 28 assists and nine digs.

The Gophers (17-8, 7-7 Big Ten) were outhit by the Huskers (24-0, 14-0 B1G) .434 to .268. NU had more kills (55 to 36) and digs (46 to 33). The Gophers had more blocks (5 to 3) and the two teams tied in aces (4 to 4).

Minnesota's .268 hitting percentage was the best by a Nebraska opponent this season. Setter Stella Swenson touched on the Gophers performance today.

"This game showed what we've been doing well and what we need to work on, regardless of a win or loss," Swenson said. "We needed to be better on blocking but I thought we were gritty and played solid floor defense today."

For Nebraska, Andi Jackson led the team with 15 kills on .619. Bergen Reilly paced the offense with 45 assists and three kills while Harper Murray went for seven kills and 11 digs.
