Latest GSR Report Shows Gophers' Academic Success

MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota student-athletes have posted another strong showing in the classroom, as evidenced by Wednesday's release of the newest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) from the NCAA.
With a 93 percent graduation rate, Minnesota has now recorded the eight highest GSR statistics in school history over the last eight years with a school-record 96 percent mark in 2021, 95 percent in 2023 and 2024, 94 percent in 2022, 2020 and 2019, and a 93 percent rate in 2018.
This year's GSR primarily focuses on the six-year cohorts who came to the 'U' as freshmen in 2018. The GSR shows the percentage of student-athletes on any given team who earn a college degree within six years of starting school. It represents data from first-time freshmen, student-athletes who entered at mid-year, and student-athletes who transferred into the University of Minnesota between 2015 and 2018. It excludes student-athletes who transfer from the university in good academic standing.
Nine Minnesota programs posted 100 percent graduation rates for the aforementioned time frame: baseball, women's golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, women's swimming, tennis, volleyball and wrestling. All 19 sponsored sports on campus had grad rates at or above 79 percent.
