MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota tennis team will continue its 2025 fall season at the ITA Central Regional Championships this weekend.

The ITA Central Regional Championships is scheduled for Oct. 16-20 at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.

Tournament Format
The ITA Central Regional Championships feature 64-player singles and doubles draws, with qualifying rounds advancing 16 players to the main draw. Singles matches use best-of-three sets with no-ad scoring, while doubles follow eight-game pro sets with tiebreaks at seven. Consolation matches use shorter formats, and all action on courts 1–6, both indoor and outdoor, will be livestreamed.

Gopher Participants
Six Gophers will compete at the ITA Central Regional Championships: seniors Sofia Pinto and Anali Kocevar, and juniors Jeselle Ante, Yinong Ma, Anlin Xie and Mia Liepert.

All Minnesota doubles pairs will compete in the doubles draw, while Ante and Liepert are in the main draw for singles. The remaining Gophers will play in the qualifying rounds for a spot in the main draw.

Fall Season Recap
The Gophers finished the 13th annual Gopher Invitational with a 6-1 record in doubles and a 7-2 mark in singles. Nora Knezevic led Minnesota, going 5-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles.

Mia Liepert, Aiva Schmitz and Anali Kocevar became the first Gophers to play in the ITA All-American Championships since 2015. Liepert earned a notable win in a consolation match, defeating UCLA's Bianca Fernandez 7-6 (10-8), 6-2.

Schmitz and Ante headlined the 'U' at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic this past weekend, advancing to the quarter finals with Schmitz advancing to the tournament's final, falling short to Kansas State's Martaa Chogsomjav 6-3, 6-4.

Minnesota most recently competed in the Cyclone Invite on Oct. 3-5, earning points over Iowa and Kansas State. Jeselle Ante continued her successful fall, finishing 3-0 in singles and adding a doubles win against Kansas State.
