Dr. Amy Beacom Joins Leadership U for Speaker Series Event
5/11/2023 3:20:00 PM | Student-Athlete Development, Leadership U
Dr. Amy Beacom, team physician for the Minnesota Twins and sports medicine specialist at Summit Orthopedics, shared her personal lessons and experiences with Gopher student-athletes and staff on Wednesday, April 12th. Amy highlighted the importance of slowing down, showing up, and being authentically curious to unlock and fortify the opportunities that present themselves when you are open to them.
As a woman working in a predominantly male sport environment, Amy spoke about the significance of connecting authentically with those you interact with to create meaningful experiences and provide the biggest impact. Dr. Amy underscored that a willingness to make mistakes and affording yourself grace are keys to being successful in your chosen field.
As a former collegiate swimmer herself at Hamline University, Dr. Amy understands the physical and emotional demands that her high-level athletes are facing. Amy describes the highlight of her role as helping her patients maintain and reclaim a healthy, active life. It is clear that Amy prioritizes the overall health of the individual, and the power that connection can have when it comes to treating others.
We were so fortunate to have Dr. Amy Beacom join us for a Speaker Series event. Leadership U is looking forward to hosting more Speaker Series events in the 2023-24 academic year!
