SAAC and Managers On a Mission Join Together for a Great Cause

The University of Minnesota student-athlete advisory committee partnered with Managers On a Mission this past year to gain awareness and clothing donations to those in need.
Managers On A Mission is a non-profit located right here in Minnesota that seeks to develop future leaders in the sports industry. With experiences through mission trips, MOAM offers $20,000 in education scholarship funding each semester and $250 for future service projects in individual's local communities. Funding each of these is made possible through the surplus athletics apparel and equipment from professional and intercollegiate athletics programs.
This year, MOAM and the Gopher Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) joined together with a new initiative. Gopher athletic programs competed to see who could raise the most amount of clothing and equipment, which in return, turned into a donation of their choice. The incentive? A monetary donation to the winning program, or program's choice from MOAM.
Through the leadership of SAAC president Matt Rosen, the Gophers and MOAM joined forces to partner in the first-ever SAAC Cleanout for a Cause. This drive collected 437 pounds of items and 626 items of clothing total. Divided into three divisions based on roster size, the programs that won their divisions were women's tennis, men's hockey and men's track & field. Because of their efforts, each of these programs donated $333.33 from MOAM to a local charity of their choosing.
Items that were collected in this drive will be distributed domestically and internationally during MOAM trips to Uganda, Israel, California and Minnesota, and processed through the eBay Giving Works platform. All proceeds directly support MOAM's volunteer-driven program and service projects.
Thank you to all our teams for their participation, especially SAAC president Matt Rosen, for his efforts in helping a great cause!
