Schroeder Named National Rookie of the Month

Minnesota’s Jordan Schroeder has been named the college hockey National Rookie of the Month for November by the Hockey Commissioners’ Association.
Schroeder, a Prior Lake, Minn. native, scored 13 points with seven goals and six assists in the Gophers’ nine games during November and leads all rookie players in Division I hockey with 19 points through 14 games played.
In addition, Minnesota’s Ryan Stoa was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Player of the Month and was a runner-up for National Player of the Month honors behind Ohio State goaltender and Forest Lake, Minn. native Dustin Carlson. Stoa was also a runner-up for national honors in October. Each of the nation’s six conferences submits a monthly nomination for both the player and rookie awards.
The Gophers posted a 4-2-3 record during November and were ranked No. 1 in the country for two straight weeks.
Schroeder tallied points in eight of the Gophers’ nine games and scored goals in five different contests. He was twice honored as the WCHA Rookie of the Week and notched four multiple-point games, including two-goal efforts in wins over Minnesota State and Denver. Schroeder scored three power play goals and scored his seven goals on just 27 shot attempts. He has seven goals and 12 assists for the season and was recently named to the U.S. squad for the under-20 world championships for the second straight year.
Stoa, a Bloomington, Minn. native, had six goals and six assists for 12 points during November. For the season, he ranks ninth nationally in scoring with 20 points and fourth in the country with 11 goals scored.
