University of Minnesota junior forward Danny Irmen (Fargo, N.D.) has been named the Inside College Hockey Player of the Week, following Minnesota’s two-game sweep over fourth-ranked North Dakota last weekend in Grand Forks, N.D. Irmen had a spectacular weekend in his “homecoming series” at North Dakota, tallying five points to lead the eighth-ranked Golden Gophers to two 4-3 wins.
From Inside College Hockey:
“His Statistics: 2 GP, 2-3--5
His Impact: In a crucial series for Minnesota on an archrivals’ home ice, Irmen turned in a pair of multiple-point games. His efforts led the Gophers, who had lost two in a row and were winless in three straight, to a pair of 4-3 victories at North Dakota. He had 1-2--3 on Friday night, and his goal and assist on Saturday included the eventual game-winning tally.
His Runners-Up: Chris Collins (Boston College), Ian Keserich (Ohio State), Brad Smith (Connecticut), Jeff Van Nynatten (Niagara).”
The award is the first this season for a Minnesota player from INCH (www.insidecollegehockey.com).
